Just bought my first brazilian/ first bonsai a day ago from an older Asian couple that sells bonsai tree from their house. I was told this tree has been being trained for 2-3 years now. I live in Michigan so the tree will be inside until warmer months. I have it next to a large balcony window that gets a lot of sunlight but I also have a lamp for it when it’s gloomy. Should I mix the lamp and the natural light all the time or do one or the other? Also should I just be focusing on keeping it Alive until the warmer months and then start practicing my bonsai upkeeping or is there something I can/should do now?

I would use the light and the sun at the same time.
You can never have enough light indoors for just about any plant.
Other than that I'm not your best source on indoor growing unless you're growing the ganja.
But where in Michigan are you?

Welcome. Mine get good southern light and grow lights for 15 hours a day. Just let it get through the winter. It should take off with growth once it's safe to go outside, when the nighttime lows are 50 or above. They're fun trees, enjoy.
