Like I said in BT, I like the unique character of the first one and if it were mine I would make a sort of bunjin cascade out of it. The second one I would be tempted to chop it back. All in all very nice trees and good luck with them.

If the tall one were mine, I'd be tempted to cut it back about midway. It has a lot of taper, but the trunk is long and straight. You might consider air-layering it and getting two trees for the price of one.

On the second one I think I'd cut it around the 8" mark on the ruler and try and shoot for an informal broom. The trunk's kinda slender but with some nice movement up to that point. Just an idea.
