New Fukion. One week home. Dropping an alarming amount of green and dry leaves. They drop at the slightest touch and finest mist. It came in some kind of potting mix soil? Moss and rocks on top. Stays wetish. Too wet?
(I have yet to feel it dry out and it has those glued rocks around the edge and moss on top)
Not wet enough?
Shock?
Repot in tropical soil, that the other one likes? Or would that be too much stress?
Please Advise. I an a newbie.

(Another Fukieon, I have had a bit, is happy. Same light, same temp, but in tropical soil.)

Here is the tropical soil that my other likes. (It was also great for a terrarium with ficus and fittonia.)

Your current soil is a complete mess. It looks like the rootball has been "potted up" into a larger container and backfilled with gravel. I'd also bet you're watering on a schedule. The combination, along with the low light conditions and oncoming winter (with your heat coming on) are all contributing to the problems here.

It is a pic of new, unused dried out soil in a previously used pot for example only. It is not in use.

The soil is made of: double-sided pine bark fines, course river sand #3 and caldine clay.
Hand mixed, dried and bagged. Brand is Tinyroots.

I'll add another pic of it in use with a happy Fukieon.

Sorry if it was confusing.

My tree dropping dropping leaves came in an unknown black soil covered by glued together white stones and moss.

Also, I water when it starts to dry below the surface and it is happy. The happy one is in this soil. The new one in the unknown dark soil covered with things that hold water inside.

I didn't repot it, as it is stressed somehow a d I don't want to make it worse.

Here is a close up of the new plant.
One as it came and
one below the moss that put on top.

I also use a humidifier close by (nothing blowing on the tree.)

The tree in a corner with no breeze. It has low (winter), indirect natural light, so I added the red and blue led grow lights. The Fukieon I had first liked the addition of the lights. Perked it up.

Temp is 72.

I turned the nearby humidifier up a small bit to 40% humidity (it was just over 30 before I did that, which I read was ok.)

You said you had the tree for a week? Do you know where it shipped from? Some tropicals tend to be real finicky and drop leaves when they change their environment. Even if its just bringing them in for the year. So if you had just gotten this its most likely going through a little shock. The soil does look a mess as rockm said. I would think about repotting it come spring if not sooner.

It looks like the ones I've seen at HD, complete with the glued on rocks and Dream stone. It's not unusual for them to drop leaves when in a new environment, but I would at least get the glued on rocks off the top and repot in the spring.

HD & Lowe’s..looks pretty exact. Do these pots even drain?

What should be done with the Dream stone?

Thank you all.

I will take the stuff off the top of the soil.

It does have a hole. (But nothing comes out, even when wet. I think the soil is too dense)
I will leave it be to adjust for now and repot in the spring.

In this situation I’ve used a chop stick to gently push up and through the bottom hole and rock it around a bit to unblock clogs that can happen with condensed soils.
