Got a new grow light, Mars Hydro 600w and it's been great everything has exploded with growth. On my Ficus the newer leaves on top are turning an odd color and it's happening on the top leaves of my Japanese Weeping Willow. The willows are cuttings I've had for 3 weeks and have grown really well. Only had this light for a week and I've noticed this the past few days. Lights I had before aren't nearly as strong. Im in 7b and plan to move everything outside once it's warmer, currently a lot of snow in Bayonne, NJ. Are they just acclimating to stronger light? Should I raise the light higher? It's about 15 inches from the top of the plants. Thank you everyone.

Actually just read it's cooking the chlorophyll so I'm gonna raise and drop time to match the sun. When I started on the bonsai subreddit I was told 18 hours artificial light is only 3 of actual sun but my trees have grown fine under artificial for now. Any advice all ears.

Add a fan to you grow area. There should be enough air movement that thin leaves and grassy leaves wave in the light breeze. Leave the fan on 24/7. The fan will allow you to bring the light closer again. And a fan will keep down fungal issues and allow better root growth. Air moving across the potting media mixes oxygen down into the roots. Once you have the fan running, you can either bring your light down or go back to an 18 hour light cycle. Good air movement keeps leaves cool under even intense light.

New red growth on Ficus is normally a sign of strong light, so it's a good thing.
