Hello to all. On saturday 9-18-10, i took a refinement class in charlotte nc with Randy Clark of the Bonsai Learning Center. We used Japanese Holly Trees, var. Numalaria, and they are awesome. The material was great, and the prices the same. He covered every part of preparing a tree for a show, and worked with each person for hours. Here are some pics of the tree.

Hi Digger,
I've worked with Randy before, really enjoyed it, he devotes a lot of time to each of his students and he's a great guy.

Ilex are good bonsai material & quite forgiving.

I am curious, what is the purpose of the wire on the overlapping root in the nebari closeup shot?

Hi Bob. We put that on as a torniquet in order to remove that root later. Not sure whats attached, so it will divert the energy to other roots to be able to remove that one.
