Been planning this planting for a few years. From when I took the cuttings, last year I made the rock amd pot. Six and a half hours later amd this is the result. So now to let it all settle grow for a year. Then to refine it into the image I have in my mind. I saw your other pots, looked like new media. Wondering if there is a name for this?

Excellent!
I've got a similar idea for a rock like this with a mix of Kishuu, Itoigawa, and Hinoki on it.
Hopefully I pull off something half this nice.
Your finished pictures make it look much bigger than it is, which I think is a good thing.
Keep this updated please. I bet another year would do wonders for this planting.

Thanks for your kind words. Yes I think another year and we will see a big improvement. After care is key now

May I ask what your muck/keto recipe is? Trying to compare different people's ingredients.

Yes. It’s equal parts Keto, sphagnum moss and super fine Akadama. Leto alone will just crack and craze amd if it ever dries out will be the hardest thing you have ever tried to get water back into it. 😀

I thought keto was the name for the final mixture - what's your definition here? Peat moss? Clay?

I love this project....
It's so complex to find appropiate trees (species, different sizes and girths), to create the "rock" with pockets , and overall, to make it work after...
I can't help but tell you that there is a detail in your final work that I think can be improved aesthetically. I'm talking about the base of the "rock". I think it's too narrow ... I'd try to make it look wider.
In any case my congratulations.
