Today I dug a small Scots pine from my garden. It has been growing there for about three years. It had one big root, six inches long, at a right angle from the trunk. It did make roots closer to the trunk in the past years. It developed great bark in a few years.
Potted it up in its first bonsai container.
The roots on the left are new. So in the future it will fit a much smaller pot
