Hi, I collected a few interesting looking rocks in the Swiss Alps today for my first ROR project. Any thought/suggestions? I was planning to use a cotoneaster or mountain maple collected in the same area. Many thanks!

Don’t have any suggestions, but those are some great rocks for it!

Those are some superb rocks! I regret not picking up any larger nice rocks when traveling there five years ago. You have some beautiful things to work with!

nice rocks. But I think I would skip the square one. Looks too smooth for roots to take hold on firmly enough and for the first decades you would be struggling to keep the thing together.

Would you recommend spring or fall as the best time to start a root-over-rock planting?
