I recently bought a tree labeled as a bonsai but I cannot identify it if it truly is one as this tree is bizarre to me
Any help would be appreciated

It appears to a ficus - not sure bout the specific kind. (Folks on here with tons of knowledge will give more info). But knowing it’s probably a ficus is half the battle.

Any tree can be a "bonsai".

Welcome to the bonsai club. It is tiger bark ficus. Loves light, humidity and well draining soil.
