Hi everyone I have a question about a tree I was given. I was giving a Campeche tree about a month ago and it was doing fine for about a week and all of a sudden the leaves started changing dying off... A couple of weeks later all of its leaves have dropped so I was wondering if this is normal since it did come from Puerto Rico where it is hot to a place that is wet and cold. I live in the Pacific Northwest I've done my best to mimic where it came from I mist it 2-3 times a day it sits about 10 inches below a t5 its pot sits on a humidity tray which is on a germination mat to keep it warm and I also have a low speed fan with it. I attached a couple photos so you can see what my tree looked like as it changed and dropped its leaves.

Once or twice a day depending on how dry it is I forgot to mention that when it came it was planted in sphagnum Moss and some weird looking rocks and it is extremely waterlogged so I mixed up a well-draining soil and reported it back in its pot.

Ok so maybe that’s the issue is lack of water. I had a similar problem with mine when I first got it. Did some research and got some help from this site and started watering it pretty heavily. I have t5 lights and it can really dry the soil out fast. Don’t worry tho I have found that mine is pretty bullet proof. Water it fertilize it and probably a week from now you will see it popping with new growth. That is my experience. Nice tree btw

I clipped a branch and it's still green inside so I don't think it's dead I've been watering/misting it with distilled water because our water here is nasty but I mixed in Dyna-Gro Pro-Tekt in my daily water and once a week I water it with distilled water that has Bonsai Frit mixed in it so it gets some kind of mineral since it's distilled.

You need to remember the giant differences in light between you and PR. Today, they will have a 2 hour longer day, sun intensity that you can get a sunburn with, and actual humidity. Compare that to your conditions and it's quite understandable that your plant is in approximately Hell. We all buy things at a time when we need cheering up, but late spring would have been a better choice. Don't overwater, but don't underwater either, and this too, shall pass.

Don't fertilise an ill plant, please.
New soil can easily do for a month or two.
If this is a haematoxlyum c. it needs bright light and eventually, full sun. The new
shoots will wilt if the soil is not moist enough.

So if you are fortunate it will recover.
Good Day

very sensitive tree to re-potting, it should only be done when the tree is growing strongly.
