So I was definitely looking for something more raw original ally, and will likely still be making a purchase like that in the new future, but I just couldn’t pass this one up. It was pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

Unfortunately it had some major acrobatics during shipping but fortunately no major damage. Just having to set some branches back. The ramification is done well enough for it to be an easy enough task but just letting the little guy rest for now.

Look good, can I ask where you bought it from and the cost?

Nice pick up. Wiring out this fall to define the pads and, perhaps, carving to add some interest to the shari might be somethings to consider.

The entire thing is basically wired at the moment. Though a lot of it you see in the picture still needs to be reset into place because of the shipping issue. I will definitely work on the shari though.

For anyone curious what I mean by shipping accident, well this is how it arrived to me. So yeah very fortunately there wasn’t any serious damage.

there are four wooden peg frames that the seller has screwed into a wood panel that the tree rests on. Two of the pegs screwed got torn through the wood panel. I don’t blame the seller though, UPS is just hot trash where I am and I try to stickwith USPS and FedEx. I had another tree arrive from UPS with the “This side up” stickers literally pointing at the ground.

Musta been wired right.

Curios if you know who wired it?

Sorce

Wired as in wired down or branches wired?

The pot itself was zip tied down on each side of the pot but one of them snapped. And these were thick boy zip ties.

Yes branches.

You should inform them, it seems they don't want this to happen.

Tell em to get the UV safe good zip ties!

Yeah most of the branches have been wired for over a year (I actually need to start removing a lot of them) which I told them definitely help save a lot of the branches since they just bend upwards instead of snapping.

Good foliage, nice tree.

Thanks Brian!

Also does anyone know a good resource for Shari enhancement as far as depth/texture?

I’ve down my own stuff using primarily a dremel and various bore bits and steel brush bits but wouod love to learn more. I’d like to do more by hand as well.

Just gotta sit down in the right mood and pick at it. Use a dental pick, needle nose pliers, and follow the grain. Get a little piece in the pliers and pull it along the grain. Deepen grooves with the dental pick, and repeat. A little at a time and you’ll end up with a natural look.

Thanks Brian! I am not planning to do too much this year. I started removing some of the old wiring that was dug in pretty bad on easily accessible branches and will do the more invasive stuff later this year. After I get everything re-wired I will work on individual pad development. Now I just wanted get it opened up more to stop some of the leggy growth development. A lot of the smaller branches hadn't been wired yet so the bed head in this new photo is largely because I separated some of the larger branches a bit.
