Noble over rock.

Got a Noble Fir seedling a few years ago at the flower and garden show. Put some wire on it, gave it a few bends, planted it in good soil and put it in a corner to be forgotten. When I did look at it a year later the wire had bit in pretty good, but I also noticed that all the roots were coming out of one side. I just found this rock with a pretty deep hole and a lightbulb went off in my head. I got lucky, the bends and roots worked out. Made my own muck with mud from a tub garden, fines from sifting soil, and finely chopped sphagnum. Had a nice clay like consistency and stuck well. The roots cascade down the side packed with soil and encased in muck, then half way across the bottom of the pot. I added a few small azaleas and put moss on it. Eventually I can maybe see it on a slab.

Good start. If wishing back budding cut sprouts while still green/soft/pliable as Deer do.

Well I'm glad to see good growth after the cold winter, I lost a few plants. Need to give it a trim.

Insidious plague Irish moss/false moss needs eradicated. Once established/spreading and goes to seed extremely hard to get rid of.

Well I'm down to one azalea, but it does put out some nice blooms. The noble is still going strong and I think I might try styling it. It sits in the back and doesn't get to much attention so I thought I'd post some of what will hopefully be before pictures.
