The day after Christmas...boring!

So...me and the wife load the dog and drive to Monterey CA. for the day. We figured with the economy and the holidays it would be fairly quiet...boy were we wrong. Everyone had the same idea.

Some trees. Notice the way the branches fall on these Monterey cypress.

Take a look at what a windswept tree looks like.

Take a look at the foliage. Looks like a juniper huh?

Did I mention the ocean?

Maybe not. Well I have no idea what was going on...but I was glad I was there to see it. The water was actually turquoise blue. When the waves rolled and the sun shined thru them they were magnificent. I felt as though we were at a South Pacific Island. The shot at the beach is near the mission at Carmel.

I would like to think it a post Christmas miracle

Thanks for the ride Al, the scenery is beautifull. Is this from the PCH or is that north?

I really miss that place. I spent my honeymoon traveling down the PCH to Big Sur from SF. That stretch of coast is simply spectacular.

PCH is further north. This is a residential road along the waterfront south of Ocean street in downtown Carmel. This is an area that is inhabited by what the left call the "one percenters". There is not a house along this road that would sell for under 3 million, with many selling for substantialy more.

In this pic looking back towards Pacific Grove and Monterey, one can see the world famous golf courses of the US Open, Pebble Beach, Spyglass, and Poppy Hills. Seventeen mile Drive runs through this area and is actually an extension of where I was, though not part of the drive. It ends at the beach I showed along with the Mission at Carmel.

Now these are some views one might see along California's Pacific Coast Hiway. These are from my trip in 2009 to Oregon Bonsai

Are you saying you drove all that way to see Randy? If that's the case, then that's a lot of dedication

Well, I went see my Son and Grandkids...but I was trying to keep it a little bonsai related. I spent the day with Jason Gamby, his collection and then to Randy's and some time with Peter Warren.
