Just got a nothofagus dombeyi, a fake beech as they call them.
half way up the trunk is dead... sadly... as I thought it wasn't when purchased online.

It is an evergreen tree.

I will keep you guys posted. But I like the tree and gonna work it this spring! :D

It will not be an easy tree! That's for sure...

If only the top branch were alive, this would be so much easier.

These are awesome trees. I had the chance to work on some and collect some when I was in Chile in 1999. Wish they'd grow in Los Angeles. Won't take much to sort this out . They get some very cool awesome natural shapes.

I will have to use the deadwood for sure... I love it, it is a bit soft though

Some of the low branching looks quite usable....
