Nuresry Boxwood after 3 years

I got this boxwood from my brother who purchased at a nursery. Upon recieving it looks like a normal globe shaped nursery tree. The foliage is probably less than 10% of original after 2 years. The soil has been too wet with the clay pot and my watering habits which is why it is all black under the nebari at the original root ball. Much of it has rotted underneat but the tree keeps growing well. I am hoping underneath and outside of that the roots are doing well. First picture is the current front but I am thinking of rotationg about 20-30 degrees to the veiw shown in the second picture. It has been in this pot for three years and I think I will be repotting early next year into a shallower round training pot.

I really like the nebari and the trunk here but I cant see any of the branching, you might want to try opening up the foliage so that it isn't just a dense mass.

PS I agree about the new front
