Nursery hornbeam

Found this European Hornbeam at a nursery a few days ago. Thought I’d post a few pictures and see what folks here think. I should have measured the trunk, or least had something for reference, but it slipped my mind. If my memory serves, and sometimes it’s a bit dodgy, the trunk is about 4-6” at the base. So, what are your thoughts on this?

The tree and the cultivar (pyramidal very top dominant ) arent great (they dont heal scars great either), unles the tree is almost free I wouldnt go for it

I’d pass… you want regular cultivar European Hornbeam for nursery stock. It should have low branches already. This is a European hornbeam from nursery stock you should keep an eye out for has low branches already. Root work and taper / branch development are all it needs. 8” at the base..
