Hello Everyone,
I just acquired a Larix Larcinia, it is from a Nursery in a 1 Gallon Pot. I bought it on a whim by chance of it being there calling my name.
Most of the roots were so bad they were beyond saving unfortunately.
My question is about the length of the Tree with little roots left after removing all the rot and soil.
I want to cut it back (Trunk Chop it) as its way too tall ,any suggestions of where you guys would cut back to would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hard to tell from the photo, are the buds opening yet? If so then it is too late to do root work or anything else for now. I would go ahead and slip pot it into a larger pot with well drained bonsai soil although with about 20-30% composted pine bark. There was a similar post on here a couple days ago and I suggest you read it before going forward.
