Pureun Bonsai Nursery 푸른분재원

It is late on a Tuesday afternoon and I am after a small raw material type juniper......I don't want to pay more than five to ten dollars.......
Yesterday I already had a bad experience. Having stopped at a different nursery I had asked about some basic prebonsai stock....the tree was unkept and in a less than wonderful condition.....I felt that I could haggle.....
She wanted 50 dollars!!!! Five times more than it was worth.....Keeping to Korean etiquette I politely thanked her and left.....

Anyway, now it's Tuesday and I feel better....other customers are walking about too. The wife of master Lim Byeong In greets me and tells me to ask her should I need assistance. I thank her and proceed to the back where I see beautiful trees. Master Lim greets me......"You after anything specific?" he asks. "No" I respond " just browsing and looking at the gorgeous trees". He smiles and says "browse away!"

After some time I approach him as he is pruning......asking how long he's been doing bonsai at which he responds that he has been doing bonsai for over 45 years......

No wonder the trees are gorgeous and in excellent shape.....

I ask some hornbeam advice and he advises me to skip pruning this year.

Walking around I see some juniper raw material.....I ask how much they are and he just smiles, thinks for a moment and then says that I can pick whatever I want for five bucks....!

Choose a great piece and he gives me some pointers.....

I'm really impressed. I ask if I can take some pictures and share his details on Bonsainut.com and he readily agrees.

Great nursery with exceptionally high quality trees that are in excellent health. A must see nursery from a true master.

Please add good nurseries in your area here!

Five dollars! Though I believe I live in the most inexpensive bonsai market in the US, five dollars wouldn't buy me an elm seedling :)

Thank you for sharing! I love these stories from other countries!!
