Hi All,

Does anyone have any tips on how to grow a Wild Olive from seed?

I have tried twice now and not succeeded. I left seeds to swell in hot water for 24 hours and scratched/scarred the outer layer of the seed to mimic nature but still neither took. I have been using a coir, peat moss and perlite medium. I have 3 seeds left and really desperate to grow them. Its Spring in South Africa.

Thanks,
Neal

Hi Neal,

I have never planted olienhout seeds, but they seem so come up in my bonsai pots a lot. probably birds pooping them out in the trees above my bonsai.

why don't you rather collect wild trees to make bonsai with. You get much better aged characteristics from the get go. I can also point you in the direction of a guy that sells wild collected olienhout to make bonsai with

best regards
Herman
