Not bark from Orchids but sold at the local Reptile shop for your livestock.

I was using some today as a mulch and possible food resource for newly introduced fungi and found what looked a lot like a maize seed.

I began to wonder if Orchid bark was not Pine or Fir but Corn Husks.

Any ideas?

Good question! The orchid bark I have is chopped redwood bark.

Maybe some suppliers use "orchid bark" as a generic term for any medium intended for potting orchids. I've not actually seen that, but it's a possibility that jumped to mind.

Depends on the brand. The best I have gseen for tropical bonsai is made by Gubler, small pine bark, perlite, shredded bark and and lava, all a good size. Others like Shultz contains stringy long shredded bark.
