Out of the Woods - Botantical Art, Huntington Gardens May 19th ~ August 27, 2018

I was at the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena this past weekend and was told I should check out the botanical art on temporary display, especially the oil painting of a JBP from the Omiya Bonsai Museum. The detailed painting is amazing and worth checking out. The below image is of the tree painting from the asba-art.org website and the bottom link is the actual tree in Omiya.

I have recently purchased a couple of beginner botanical art books and figured when I get some spare time I'll try my hand at it. I find it fascinating and that Pine is amazing.

Here’s some detail shots. The depth and range of color on the needles is unbelievable and every detail is reproduced right down to the pruning scars!
