Outdoor hydro livening up!!!!

These Siberian Elm will be nice……I have an entire case of 3x3x2.5” Stonewool blocks to up-pot them.Lots of low branches will make nice sacrifice growth.

Happy with the growth and color of the JBP seedlings…….these were mainly outdoor grown all the time and in 2nd season…..nice color and healthy appearance in the Stonewool blocks.
I love the smaller double and triple trunks I managed to save…..some have fantastic genetics of needles right down to the base of the candles!!!

HYBRID GROWN INDOOR /OUTDOOR SIBERIAN ELM AIR LAYER

This is fun.It was only started about 6 mnths ago as an air- layer of a 3 mnth sapling?
It comes outside to harden naturally all season and autmn with a short dormancy and to start very early indoors. These Siberian Elm seem to grow nicely…..they love all the sun you can give!
The escape leader will grow big time and should make a rather fat little trunk this season.

I really do not feed these excessively though.

GARDEN IS LOOKIN’ GOOD!
GRODAN DELTA BLOCKS SEEM FINE.

I am especially impressed with drought tolerance of the pines…a couple times this Spring the were dry to the touch and candles weeping over….that was a couple weeks ago and definately not any real heat yet.
Great backbudding on the pines….these are in 2nd grow season with a couple mnth head start last season indoors.

The delta blocks were frozen solid over the winter to no ill effect as far as drainage…….lets not forget it is basalt stone……weathers kind of nicely really and just gets full of roots.

The zelkova have great color and brix…started indoors for mnths the past winter.

Lovin’ the siberian Elms in the background…starting to see roots poke theough the bigger blocks.

I am sticking to the plan and not over fertilizing until perhaps I see a need to or a yellowing leaf or something ….then just apply the apoonfeeding technique of fixing the nutrient deficiency as they may come about.

Also zero fungicide except normal bio fungicide properties of amino acids promoting tons of calcium……slower growing ,smaller cells and higher brix…..a bit of yucca wash on the leafs
(a very mild natural fungicide).
**** also very ,very tough species selection….. Germinating maple seeds were a no for me ……mold all over the damn things🤔

I am excited because they are currently at .8 ec of NPK and another .1-.2 of a vitamin B on a magnesium sulphate carrier…..totaling about 1.0 ec.
I add lots of the Fulvic Acid and amino acids for alot of extra chealating… probably 20% or more uptake without the extra saltas that constrict pure water uptake.I am extremely happy with this approach.Very hydrated……. It is easy to push the growth but at the same time you’re gonna be pushing oil and turpines which can be very good on a ripen in tree but I see no point mid veg season because it is less water update because of the available salts weather organic or in a processed form.
Definitely have to add chelators though and amino acids and the more Bio stimulants the better and along with my robes to get full affect of this approach….these mature Pines sending out candles and essentially fruiting I add a bit of extra potassium to keep things moving and I have a very nice green color and there’s a lot to be said about adding kelp which has the cytokinesis properties especially when applied with fulvic acid as a foliar …..it’s almost like giving an extra three hours of sun to your plants I was told because of the higher photosynthesis it promotes and I know this is very beneficial for my Pines as I only get about seven hours of direct sun in my yard….. probably another five hours of lighted blue sky which there is something to be said for that because it is a form of light for sure and deafly not shade.

Anyways happy growing it is great I am back into growing things outside it is just all the fun to have the happy seasons growing outdoors.

BROUGHT THE INDOOR CROP OUTSIDE…..WATERING THE SIBERIAN ELMS

The indoor co2 pines are great….Greened up almost instantly….like a few hours after I brought them into sunshine.Should really pop into growth.

The Siberian Elms are rooting out into the larger blocks and will push some nice sacrifice leaders as I grow out some trunks…….Not sure how long this project will last……I decided to grow them because all 400 of the seedlings had a wonderful Autumn color……I was sold without a doubt…….great for a seasonal aspect…….total sun lovers and extremely hardy and fuss free……occasional gall or blackspot……..just defoliate and your fine!!!
Would be nice to get some 1” trunks by early Autumn…then give a chop.Or perhaps chop at dormancy and really get the last girth increase of the season……..
Fun stuff.CDB9BA9E-F96D-44E6-AC02-A87AAF1936E0.jpeg7A4E53BC-7156-40D8-BDF7-AD3577ADC6C3.jpeg4B6BB72E-F4D5-437B-9562-5C344C6801FD.jpeg61564B20-8BEE-4A0D-B67A-E997EDDB7B18.jpegD4D52461-FB0D-429E-AFBE-B5E45DB4D7BF.jpeg

ROOTS STARTING TO PUSH MUCH QUICKER
AND MORE JBP SEEDLING CUTTINGS BROUGHT OUT INTO SUNSHINE.

Brought more JBP seedling cuttings outside from the co2 fertilized tents……many are quite outstanding as far as stature and branching.I am pleased with the crop.

Also the roots are starting to push out the bottoms of many delta blocks for the Siberian Elms and other species.

PINES CANDLES LOOKIN’ GOOD

Everything is greening in now.I was worried they were stalling.A few of them have dried quite a few times…maybe not as much as I believed though. These can be very drout tolerant in the delta blocks.I am impressed.

the seed grown regular ( non cutting) Japanese Black Pine are GREAT!!!

So,these only had a couple mnth head start indoors befor spring last season……currently in seco mnd grow season. I am very astonished by the size and quality quite frankly …..the seaweed kelp regular foliation sprays are producing very ,very nice backbuds on nearly all of them and honestly they’re probably the best keepers.

Very great size on these for second year I am impressed and happy with a stonewool honestly I think it is actually great these have dried down nearly bone dry from the outside appearance a few times, but I guess the insides of the stonewool still had enough coolness to keep the roots alive and I’m surprised at their size to be honest.Backbuds shooting out of the wool on a coupme of them making a nice low clump appearance.

And from all these happy results I’ve decided to grow a bunch of regular seedlings like these for fall sale ,along with another crop of cuttings …..the regular seedlings should be fine I will give them a much longer start in the CO2 and next year should have phenomenal backbudding and be of good health in the stonewool…… The stonewool will be chock-full of roots and literally be volcanic stone and rooting mass and not be a soggy issue!!!

SIBERIAN ELMS STARTING TO PUSH SACRIFICE GROWTH.

They still have a nice shine to the leaf,so a relative amount of brix is always good.Vascular systems look strong as I look close-up.These should be way big and will probably have to trellis the leaders before I eventually chop to the first trunk section…..we’ll see when.

Also I’ve seen 9 foot tall pepper plants in a single 6” block of stonewool……very condusive since the vast nutrients and rooting in the blocks.

yea,right.Thanks.The bio fungicide approach seems effective thus far.

About 2-3 weeks lots of japanese black pine cuttings……they will be better even as they are bulking up rather quick and will have dense roots in the stonewool cube.
Thanks!!!

ELMS GREENING UP!!!
Good and warm lately….added a little bit of extra potassium in form of potassium sulphate……..always opt for the sulfate forms as it will increase brix……..when a plant is budding like either pine candles or maturing deciduuous shoots ,the potassium can actually be depleted in a matter of hours I was told…….do not add too much though as it will form a toxicity……I added 1/64th tsp to a gallon…..and then one or two waterings with a whole 1/32 tsp per gallon added to the nutrient.
Definate growth and vigor increase……..then back down to 1/64 tspon regularly with the older maturing trees.

I REALLY LIKE GROWING OUTDOORS IN THE GRODAN DELTA BLOCKS!!!

These Siberian Elms have a nice natural growing aspect to them in the stonewool.
I can let these get quite low on moisture, but not to a drying condition…….they are light as air tonight, but the tops and bottoms are cool and moist ,so they are just right inside the block so new roots get growing….this is very good and will increase nutrient and bio-stimulant uptake.
Fun!!!
I have over 200 of these growing out in the stonewool…….I was very pleased with the Autumn coloring last season,so decided a longer term project for them.3A559193-ABCE-4A81-A6FB-529564474C7D.jpegEA391398-ED22-4D02-99DA-0F076B4F20B6.jpegFC7BA796-9BEF-489A-991C-949249836F26.jpegD6A7BAAB-DF7A-4ABD-937D-C5275EAAB044.jpeg806B786F-6F0A-42A3-9C93-B6F998A51B16.jpeg06E637FE-7107-495C-A81F-9CA4B7B63D40.jpegAD87C48B-751E-4071-AC29-A3AC5B6F2AF9.jpeg

POTTED UP MY FAVORITE KEEPER PROJECTS.

I used grade #3 perlite and shredded Grow Grow wool…(Groadan Stonewool).

Planted into larger Rootpouch fabric pots ,so as to keep media particulates out of my resevoir and my pumps free of debre.

Quite an airy mix,but also retentive with the addition of the Stonewool….about a 50/50 mix.

I will probably appreciate this as they get full of roots.

A couple 2nd season JBP seedlings and a Siberian Elm air-layer.

The Pines are terrific size in only their 2nd season!!!

I will have a crop of these regular non-cutting seedling JBP by Autumn for sale……they are great because they spend their first 3 mnths or so in an indoor co2 fertilized environment.Nice budding too.
