Hi,
Got this pine 3 weeks back and travelled few days after, came back yesterday to see that the watering system had overwatered it.
It had a bit.more brown needles that I removed. Soil looks wet even after 2 days without watering.
How do I suggest to deal with this ?.
Immediate repot to better soil ? Believe will be too stressful at this stage.
Keeping it in full sun or in shade to dry better?
Do instill water every 3-4 days or leave soil to dry completely before?
Also candles look dry should I cut them off now or wait?
Do u think itll still make it ?

Do not let dry completely. Only until damp and try to keep that way. Repot likely too much at this stage. Wait until late Winter if tree survives. Does pot have drainage? What kind of tree? Personally would remove(cut)dead candles but be careful in case any buds near base of them. Needles still mostly green: GOOD. This is season to fertilize to set buds for 2020 but would suggest only light application of same. Best of fortune with it;).

Yes pot has drainage holes but soil isnt the best as it's still in nursery soil.
Mugo pine
Will lightly fertilise and hope for the best.

Yes bought it 3-4 weeks ago like that. I'm worried the move to that pot probbly in the nursery is what's causing the brown needles and not the apparent over watering actually

My thing is this....

There is no such thing as an overwatered pine.
However,
There IS such thing as an IMPROPERLY SOILED pine.
(Glazed pots hold too much water too.)
This is improperly soiled/potted.

You shouldn't have bought it. No sense beating around that bush.

I believe you could have spent less and got more at a Wal-Mart Nursery.

Sorry I have nothing else, except for you to prevent this next time.

Well we never get JBP or Mugo in this region so I jumped on the occasion.

Holy Eff! Forgot you were WAY out!

Maybe you should get into the business and Do it Right!

I guess it will just be MORE difficult for you

This is like the Bonsai Version of a Puppy Mill! Except the only thing suffering is your bankroll.

Very true :)
Luckily was priced accordingly so no regrets and if it makes itll be a fun project ....
I am surrounded by pine forests here, not sure what type is and should be able to find some wild small trees which should be easy to take t, any idea what pines these are and if they'll make decent bonsai?
