Hello! I have two air layers on my Mikawa Yatsubusa Japanese maple. I'm in zone 6b in SW Ohio. I had given up on them until next year but after one last check, they actually have some decent roots on them. So the big question: Do I take them and hope for the best? Or do I somehow insulate them and leave them on this winter? I have looked and have seen souch mixed information so I'm hoping I can get a general consensus on it here. Thanks in advance!

With winter coming on along with dormancy you will be separating the air layer as the plant is going to sleep.
I would wait, but you have two. Maybe leave the nicer one and take the other in hopes of getting a head start next spring.
