Hello everyone !
I grew this palo verde from seed. I wired it and pruned some branches about 3 months ago. Now it is losing some of its leaves. I’m new to the hobby and would like some advise on how to keep it alive and make a bonsai from it. Thank you!

Palo verde is a desert tree. It normally looses its leaves during the hot and dry seasons. In the wild, it only has leaves briefly during the time when the spring rains bring water to the desert. The rest of the year, it is "green twigs", which is essentially what the name means, palo = stick, verde = green, so the Spanish name "palo verde" translates to "green Sticks", it is a reference to the leafless tree or shrub with green twigs that do the photosynthesizing.

So it is perfectly normal for it to drop leaves, anytime the tree dries out. And autumn is a normal time for it to dry out.

Don't worry. Do not keep the tree soaking wet, allow to be dry a day or two between watering over the winter. When it sprouts new leaves in spring, you can keep more moist.
