I’m looking into collecting a paper/white birch to train to become a bonsai. I have read about them being tricky but their seems to be some proven techniques to lessen branch loss etc. my question is, does anyone have any experience with collecting them as saplings or slightly larger? I’d like to keep it relatively small hence why I’m looking into saplings. And not cutting something with a pretty thick trunk, maybe 2 or less inches in diameter? Thanks!
