Parsons Juniper

I got this juniper at a local garden center. THe shrubs and trees were half off. Not much to pick from but some junipers. I paid 12.50 for this tree. I dont know much about junipers, Im trying to get good pics of the branches, there is a lot of movement on the trunk and branches. Im going to try and order the stone lantern book on junipers this week. Any help would be appreciated. andy

hey andy nice it appears very healthy, but hard to give any directions from these photos.try cleaning what you dont want and open it up a bit. dont get carried away though. the juniper book is a must get.

I did a little trimming not much. I took pictures of three of the sides. I like side one, especially the hole on the left. However, that branch grows straight back. The branch in side two is the one growing straight back with the hole on the other side. The trunk looks bigger in side three. There's alot going on in that side. I dont know where I would start trimming. Im still waiting on the juniper book, I ordered it last monday. I was hoping it would have came yesterday or friday. andy

Andy,
It looks like you have a nice piece of potential here. I wouldn't get in too much of a hurry to work on it, just clean it up as you have started, and in spring you can start working on it in earnest.
