While we wait for the judges to return the results of the Wisteria and Pot contest. I decided to throw in a little twist. I thought it would be interesting to see if the community members of Bonsai Nut saw it the same way as the judges.

A poll has been created to take a vote from the Bnut members on which pot and tree combo they think is the best. If you vote, vote based on the same criteria as the judges to award your vote for the best appropriate size, shape, color and overall feel. Remeber this is not a virtual contest. The voting will end midnight (EST) on Thursday January 24th, 2008. Voting is open to all members and encouraged. Only one vote per member please.

The winner of the peoples choice award will win a pot from Whistling Fish Pottery provided by Shady Side. The winner may choose any pot off this page not marked sold. As long as they agree to pay the associated shipping charges.

How to Vote: vote by number associated with contestant and there numbered pot. If you would, please post which pot in the event of 2 entries. Also feel free to comment why that particular pot works for you. Each contestant will be posted separately below.

EDIT Because of the limitations of the poll( only ten options allowed) Please vote for Bwaynef here in the thread in your post. Sorry Wayne my only option.

I voted for Dale Cochoy, on pot 15, though his other one is very attractive too. I love the texture, colour and everything about that pot in entry 15. It's a shame no one makes em like that, unless you can pay a lot of money for a one-off. The definition of harmony IMHO.

Irene's entry came a close second, partly down to the practicality of a shallow container for a wisteria. If anyone does a shape like that, with a deeper potting area it might work as a visual combination and meet the trees needs better.

Rick's entry 8 is also a great combination and certainly a contender.

Great entries all round though. How about some more contests like these.

I voted for Dale's pot #15
I like the shade of blue which will compliment any shade of wisteria flowers.
The pot depth provides a good balance with the trunk diameter.

At the moment its buried under several bales of hay. To the best of my recollection that crescent is about 16 inches long, about 9 or 10 wide, and 3.5 or 4 inches deep.

I voted for Dale Cochoy, #15. I think the color and shape of the pot are excellent for this tree.

Tachigi,

Thanks for doing the contest. Great idea. I went with Rick #8. I liked the use of the subtle color and the roughness of the pot.

Good pot selections, and great variety of choices everyone! Made me think. Thanks for taking the time to do the virtuals.

Regards to all,
Martin

Sorry Tom - I didn't know what you were up to :) I have since expanded the poll options so you can have up to 20 responses. This will probably help us in the future. If the polls start getting too long we will have to have a ladder competitive framework :)

I went with #9. I feel this plant has limited viewing angles...Circular pots, in my opinion suggests the plant can be viewed from multiple angles... I feel pot #9 adds an ingenious rough contrast to the delicate flowers...kinda reminds me of Roland's Rose in New York...
