I'm not sure if anyone is having trouble finding bark fines for their mixes, but I was, so I figured I would share for anyone having the same issue. I came across a great source today at my local Agway. I know they have locations all over the NE, not sure about anywhere else. They have something called Pine Bark Mulch, its Agway brand. A 3 cubic foot bag for $6. Not bad, and from what I can see, looks like most of its usable. Little waste. I haven't sifted any yet so don't quote me on that. 
Anyway, they also carry gran-i-grit crushed granite in the grower size. So for 2 out of 3 soil components can't be beat. 40 lb bag of granite is $9. So for $15 I have enough to last me a good while. And to think I bought $40 worth of Orchid Mix from HD and had about 70% waste material. 
Oh, well. Lessons we learn.
