Just curious. What does “hai” mean to you? Is it your name? No offense at all is intended.

To me it is Japanese for 'yes'. In his context, it is like us saying 'okay?' or 'you dig?' or 'you know what I mean?', although he is highly overdoing it. Right?

If I were to ask you if you understand now, you might respond 'yes'. In a more normal context he would say 'hai' (pronounced as we say the word 'high').

If it's a pine and has no needles, either it's already dead or will be very soon.

The tree (Pine) has no foliage and wires are pretty messed up. I took it as a joke of sort.

The tree was probably pretty cool at one point. But somehow died?
