At work the grass normally gets mowed biweekly so I grabs these guys. To me they look like chinese elm but I don't see anything similar in the office park at my job. Woody stem with a long white tap root. They've sprouted over that last 3 weeks (lawn guys missed a week) or else they would've been mowed over.

Are they anything or did I just contribute to the invasive species problem in Maryland?

Thanks

Definitely elm-ish. They were all in one small area in the grass like an animal pooped em out last year.

...I need to go wash my hands

Lol Maybe there's a big elm nearby too. I think there are elm near where I found saplings. Mine had been clipped in a hedge so I got a head start but they seem to grow quick. Hopefully yours have time to survive wi ter after the uproot in august

Not sure what part of MD, but may Chinese elms have been planted as street trees on the last decade plus....they look like Chinese elms to me.
Cool!
