Been growing all my plants in nursery pots the past 3 years (some less than that) in hopes to make a Japanese garden full of nice jdm cultivar niwaki plants.
Finally started to plant them in the ground in the beginning of November.
I’m not used to planting in the ground at all (I got good tips from YT though... like mounding them high, 3-5” above grade, etc.); so it was a lot of work and I limited myself to just planting 3 per weekend (one weekend I did 6 tho). It takes me all day from late morning to sundown per session/3 plants, maybe because I’m OCD and want it perfect.
I finally finished yesterday though, with the last plantings for the year.
No more planting for another year, until Fall 2021, or when my cuttings get bigger.
I will plant more azaleas (I have 26 cuttings), sago palms (11 pups) and San Jose junipers (11 cuttings/air-layers) in Fall 2021 when/if they get a bit bigger and healthier. (perhaps more pomegranates too, since I have two bigger 5gal ones still and 27 cuttings... but they may get too bushy/big).
Yes, that’s a lot of cuttings; but I’m not planting All of those, lol...only planting a couple of them. Not much room to plant here anymore anyways... and “negative space” in a garden is always nicer.
