I have a 75 year old collected Ponderosa pine. I need to bend a very straight trunk by splitting it in half lengthwise. I have seen it done but I want to
know the best time of year for this process. Iown all the right tools, trunk splitter, knob cutter wire tape for wrapping the split. Just not sure of the timing, I live in Snohomish, Washington.
our temps are in the low 80 degree noe and for the next two week. Any response will be really apricated.

I prefer to work on Ponderosa in the late summer/early fall. August for me, once the heat breaks.

In your climate, you could probably do it any time from now until early fall.
