I ordered these two porcelain berries online, and now that they leafed out I am very confused...The trunks and bark look identical, but the leaves are totally different. The sharp throwing star leaves are what I have seen before, but the fat maple looking leaves are a mystery. Is this a “sport,” or maybe a different species that I got?

That’s wild! I will continue to observe them next to each other. As of right now, it seems like the throwing star looking leaves send out more growth, and are more naturally ramified. This is probably why they are the only type that I have seen in bonsai.
