Appreciate ur thoughts on the pot sizes for these cedars. On a couple roots could have fitted in a smaller pot. Yet tree size felt these pots were a better fit. Looking at them now I feel I could have gone smaller.

This one potted to the back tonfit front thick roots I'll be reducing in next repot. Should I go with smaller pit then

This one barely fit in the pot but I still can reduce roots I guess

This one is my main concern as roots had no thick big roots and could have got in a pot 2/3 the size..should I have gone smaller to avoid a huge root spread and inability to reduce on next repot

These are cheapo chinese pot but will eventually get nicer pots if trees survive and finish can workout the styling to get them to look nice.
Thanks for ur input.

At their stage of development, the sizes appear appropriate to me.

9?
Bonsai is not about getting your tree into the smallest possible pot. Bonsai is about having your tree in a pot that keeps your tree healthy and makes it look stable. Beginners are usually better with a slightly over sized pot because that will allow some latitude or error in watering, heat etc.
I also think those pots look pretty good. Maybe even a size larger for the one against the rock wall?

Indeed couple thoughts I had against going smaller was that instill want to develop branches fornthe pads and maybe grow an apex so a slightly larger pot might still help as well as being more forgiving in watering and a bit easier to set the tree in...
