This spot gets morning south sun but is protected as well somewhat for heavy winter... This is under my breezeway next to couple stairs.

Ive been waiting to get something more permanent in large terracotta and these Iris should fill out nicely. Entryway to garden w bonsai lol. I got them from friends who had bunched up Iris which is when they need to be separated

Bearded iris are never very happy in pots, but those pots look big enough I would expect some bloom, maybe not next year. They will want plenty of fertilizer next spring when they start growing.

What techniques do you use to stop them from growing into big trees?

They just multiply clumps and leaf sections and throw flower up 3'. Ill make sure they dont overcrowd here and yeah these are large containers so i hope to get a unique setup going.
