hi i just bought a premna and i cant get my head around getting the leaf size reduced. i was just wondering if anyone could give some instruction. thanks

usually each time you defoliate they come back a bit smaller. They are very fast growing and very tolerant of root pruning and defoliation, they are of course tropical. All in all the "stinky lady" make nice Bonsai.

As Stacy said this is something that is done after most of the growing is done, is this tree something near finished?

Also, just for the info, Eric's are not the asian type of Premna,
which is the kind that Sam and Robert Steven's here at the B-Nut
have quite a few thread posts here about.

Premna mycrophylla is what Robert Steven posts. I went to the "wigerts" link and he does not give the species just premna sp. What he does say is, "
This tropical bonsai is used a lot in Bonsai in Thailand, Phillipines and Indonesia."
This would lead me to believe it is the asian type... Stacy, do you have some more specific info on his than is listed on the website?

Some premna species are tropical, others aren't. I have had one out in winter cold for going on five years now. It doesn'tseem to mind, although I do mind its smell. Haven't taken to working it yet.

That would be awesome! the Mycrophylla are really difficult to find here, or at least I have not had the greatest luck.
