Hello Folks,

I purchased a 10’ tall dawn redwood from a local nursery here in PA this past summer. I replanted it in this 32 gallon container to let it grow for a few years and help thicken the trunk a bit. Right now the trunk is at 2”. I have n place to plant it in the ground either.

I have a roll of burlap and was planning on wrapping the container and the first few inches of the trunk with it. Should I wrap any of the branches or should I leave them alone? Right now it’s on the east side of my house and receives little wind exposure.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Bobby

I'm in the Chicago-Milwaukee area, midway between the two cities. I'm a full climate zone colder than you, zone 5b. For 4 years now I have simply set my pots of dawn redwood on the ground and ignored them for the winter. No problems at all. They are very winter hardy.
