Do prunus fuse like many tropicals and some deciduous? Seen a few vids of ash and acer fusion projects.
My friend and I got some almonds from Bakersfiel, Ca. We had great success with germination.

Anyway, we are trying an approximate 12 tree fusion for fun. Think it will work? Ideas on success?

Today I saw a 45+ year old cherry tree leaning over another just above the rootbase. They weren't fused after so many years of touching, so I think it doesn't happen.

But I'd love to be wrong about this.

In theory, any woody tree seedlings can be bundled together to fuse. In practice, often the results are less than satisfactory. But sometimes it works. Give it a try. Almonds (Prunus dulce) (not dulcis), do grow relatively quickly. A single trunk, planted in the ground can be brought up to 4 inches diameter in less than 10 years, I would also try to size up a few single trunks and see how development compares to your fusion project. I wager, in similar amounts of time you will be happier with the single trunks.

I believe you will need a stronger way to bind them together, that tape will stretch and break long before they fuse.

Everywhere I read I saw dulcis.
I’ll look into something stronger for binding.
