I stumbled across some flowering cherry I’m hoping I can take cuttings from.

Does anyone have any success stories or advice?

It seems the jury is out with softwood v. hardwood

Try both. I personally had better success with hardwood cuttings with blueberry and azalea. I have not done Prunus. Try a few of each, softwood, semi-hardwood July& August cuttings & hardwood autumn, winter cuttings. Blueberries root best cuttings taken in November, wintered outdoors, they callus over winter, & do minimal growth in spring, root the following August.

I have successfully rooted cuttings from a yoshino and a kwanzan so I don't see why a kanzan wouldn't take. I take my cuttings once the first flush has hardened off. I am currently trying to see if I can root two weeping cherries. Once that is white flowered and a sport that is off my yoshino and is pink flowered.

Sport that came from yoshino, pink flowered, possible new cultivar
