Can anyone with this variety show me the leaf of the tree? I have one that's labeled "prunus mume matsubara red"..the leaf does not look like a prunus mume...color is off.
Thanks

Would you consider this as a prunus mume or hybrid variety?I have 'Matsubara red' along with other cultivars of mume. Have a look at the first post on the thread below it shows the leaf shape and color. Mume leaf size can vary, but the shape and color is all the same.

What I can tell you is that none of my 20+ cultivars of mume have red edge leaves, nor red petioles or branches they are all green.
No fruit produced. That is not prunus mume. Mume flowers don't have peduncles they bloom right on the branches. Also 'Matsubara red' is not pink, but closer to magenta. The fragrance in unmistakable.
My best guess would be your pic in some species of a flowering cherry. Any fruit produced would be the last key to determine what it is.
Here is my Matsubara red flower early this year.No fruit produced.
Looks just like my Prunus Serrulata (Kanzan Cherry)Here's the flower
