My second favorite species!

Can't believe there isn't more!

I've had this one for 2-3 years now.

Exposed root semi cascade.

One year it will flower!

You may know the inspiration for this one, in a Bjorn video at the restaurant I believe!

Thoughts?

So officially a Buckthorne.
My apologies!

Couple shots from Repot on 4/4/15.
This is the one with the crackpot! Took the fall! 20150404_140446.jpg

My buddy! I've killed a couple, but I know why, repotted to early and left few roots, and collected with 2 few roots in summer.

These are excellent subjects. Tough as hell, abundant, white flowers on black bark. They almost bear opposite leaves sometimes, though regularly alternate, trying to control that. These first internodes are tight like an elm, loosening with number.

Rather predictable.

Looking at this right now...
I see how the roots and branches are almost exactly the same. Not intentional , but I like it.

I want to pot it at this angle and front. Eventually I'll find a good black to Gray semi pot to put it in.
Suggestions welcome! Sales possible?
3-4 inches.

I intend to ditch the sacrifice on the right.
Form a crown within that fustercluck of leaves.
And boink shadoomp.

Video....soon.

I put the guy wire on, and only bent it up to get another half hour of sun a day.

20150808_075349.jpg

That shoot closest to the pot edge, was growing straight up.
I bent it down and wrapped it around that other shoot to hold it.
I perfected this technique playing in the woods.
Some clip and grow will complete direction.

I bought a pot today I hope to use for this tree.
20150816_142757.jpg

Looks a little big there. But you get the idea. I'm gonna have to trim these roots down some.
4in at the top. Tapers to 2 1/2.
2 3/4 tall.

No one comes to this thread.
But if you are here....
What do you think?

Thanks

I like it. Should like nice in the new pot. I have one cascade - the cliche procumbens nana cascade. The fiance made me buy it when she saw it because she likes cascades. This one will be better than my boring one.

I like it!
I'm not much into cascade myself but it's nice to see one that isn't a juniper (no offense VAFisher) and I like the exposed roots.

Nice pot, did you buy it at the show?
Did you see this other nice lady from MN doing amazing pots? (there was a sign 'Redwing MN' above her stand). Her pots weren't cheap though... :(

Nice little starter tree. I would let it grow out quite a bit to bulk up the trunk. But it works for me as a semi-cascade. I assume this is a seedling, so it will be a decade before it begins flowering, but if its a cutting, flowers could come any spring. If you want to keep it shohin, I would still let branches extend a long way before removing them, to help bulk up the trunk.
