Took the purple one out of the greenhouse for the first time this year. We have a couple of days before it will need to go back in. Needs to be trimmed for sure. Its so wide now it drags on both side taking it out of the greenhouse. Will be nice to see the green fill back in now.20180303_120241.jpg

We got a nasty hail storm in my area. Beat up the roofs and cars pretty bad. Also broke 2 decent sized branches of the purple bougy. I trimmed it back and re wired to re shape and it now has new growth on it and is looking better. Looks different with the light green leafs. I feed these a decent amount of iron and usually they are a nice dark green.

Sorry to read about the hailstorm! Your purple bougie still looks good to my eyes, even after the damage.
It actually forced me to thin and drop the top down and I like the looks better. I also made it wider. Overall to me it has a better shape than the previous picture.

Nice and compact. I have heard people say they bonsai these for the flowers not the foliage but yours sure looks good!

This one I have been working on has a bigger trunk. Still lots and lots of work to do to it.

Did some work on the purple one today. After the hail there were bare spots all over. Tightened them up. Did some trimming. Finally started some work on the trunk. When I got it it had a perfectly round hole in the middle of the trunk. I did a quick repair on it then and covered it up somewhat with the intentions of carving it out later. Carved it out today. Still dark in color but will lighten. Ill do more work as needed if I don't like the color/ carving. I did at least get all the dead wood removed.

Its about 80% filled in now. Mostly the back still has some gaps from the hail braking off branches. I need to move it and get some good pictures after it has fully recovered.

Looks healthy!
May I ask a question regarding the deadwood, if you please.
Given that the wood of this is soft, what are your plans to deal with this issue?
Thank you.

Its best just to grind it away as it happens.
