and was curious as to what you all thought.

Normally with a Kusamono, I turn to a glazed pot to begin with and go from there. I couldn't find one in the depth and shape I wanted and was actually happy with the final results.

I garnered some natives, a contoniaster and some japanese bloodgrass to begin the effort. I would have preferred a pool stone but didn't have one or something to hold water.

The lil frog figurine seemed to add a bit of life to the scene, tho I may have placed it too conspicuously. Tho in watching people I often see them in shows moving along fairly quickly
and i didn't want them to miss it.

I like the fact it is not in a glazed pot. It draws you into seeing the very nice plantings you did. I think the frog is a nice touch as well and also draws attention to the plants.

it looks good...

You call it kusamono but do you intend to use it by itself or as an accessory?

If you are going to use it as an accessory to bonsai or a stone, I think it far too complex and would become a focal point instead of a supporting character in a multi-point display.

just my opinion...

Not Kusamono. Must hold in palm of hand.

Dish Garden.
Interesting composition though. The rock is well seated. That is usually where one goes wrong with stones.

I thought is was tiny but I guess I was wrong. May I ask what size the pot is?
