I don’t know a ton about pyracantha. Any tips or thoughts or resources would be greatly appreciated.

They don't heal over large cuts at all, so you have a choice to disguise them or carve them. Usually aphids are their major issue, although they are susceptible to fireblight. Limbs are brittle once lignified, so wiring must be done on new shoots. It takes quite a while for trunks to bulk up. Looks like you've got a great start.
