When I was sick...it wasn't in full sun. It as on my back patio where the sprinkler got it. So 4 months of dappled sun. But I was miserable...and unable to water by hand. The pulmonary specialist finally figured out what was going on. And it's out in the sun now...

Your wiring has gotten much better Darlene :)
Thanks...though with more wiring it will hopefully get better. But, I now find it relaxing...to wire.

:D Thanks! Crazy it's only been on my bench such a short time. For some reason...I sometimes forget when I purchased a tree. Old threads here help...I need to be better organized on purchasing...and what I paid for a tree. Just never kept track.

My pyracantha has red berries then they turned orange in late summer.
Dunno if that's worth noting in terms of colour? They could be both colours not specifically just one.

Thanks...so am I...three years of having such trouble...4-6 month episodes. Finally it's figured out. It feels good to enjoy the trees to their fullest. Where at times...they got to be such a chore.

Peculiar...my berries went from green to a lovely orange...then red.

Ha, cool!
Mine are green then red and now orange.
Have 2 big pyracantha at end of the garden and it's like they are covered in snow but it's orange :).

Next year I'm going to cut off the berries, as I'm told this will focus the energy more in to the trees branches and trunk, and mine is not in any aesthetically pleasing state, purely growing so I don't need the berries yet.

Ahhh well, there is that then. (It's what I basically did this past season...only leaving two small blooms on the tree to check color of berries.) Interesting yours goes from red to orange. Especially since mine is opposite. Mine is classified a red berry. (Jason had said he thought it was of the red variety...but there are variants between them...if I remember right. I imagine since yours changes to orange...yours would be classified as orange then, the final color of the berry. But...only guessing. Would love to see the tree full of berries if you have a chance to share.

Sure,
I took these yesterday.

That large sphere is an enclosed chair, it has cushions in usually but during colder months we take them out. So it works as a good enclosure for my trees, protect against too much rain or wind.

There's 2 pyracantha and another tree next to them (you'll notice the big green branch coming forward). They are all 3 tangled in each other now.

I've not seen a Pyracantha in the ground...they are no longer sold at nurseries near me. The reason is because many planted them in the wrong locations and they began disliking the species. (From what the nursery owner said.) He can't even order them in for his nursery and neither could 5 others around me when I tried. Which is why I ordered one off of Jason. All those a berries!!! Wow...something to behold for sure @ConorDash !

Yeh it's quite lovely.
It's the berries that make me love this species and why it's one of my desired trees for a great bonsai or shohin in the future.
I'd love a small tree like this:
IMG_6613.JPG

It's simple, there's nothing massively special or impressive about this tree (except its base flare) but it's so great looking.

Or with a more impressive piece of material, something like this:

Again @ConorDash ...I'm sure you can find some good specimen to air layer on that tree of yours! Most of these trees were ripped out of landscape I was told for my area...planting in wrong locations by home owners gave them a bad name.

The berries are stunning! I had hoped for orange berries...but beggars can't be choosy. Especially when I couldn't order them in...after getting this one from Jason I stumbled across one at a far away nursery. With a price tag that was rediculous! Nothing special about it's trunk.

And they propagate so easily! I bought a five gallon pyracantha last spring and took five air layers off it. I've started another two from half inch dia cuttings rooted in water. If you have one pyracantha, you have as many as you want.

I think you should get one.
I live in a place where they are shunned for landscaping so no nursery plants to be had. Would have to purchase a prebonsai, and have not seen anything so far worth spending $$ on. Would be interested should anyone have a starter to tempt me with... :D
