Just received this sweet little oak tree. I am looking forward to spending some years developing it. I am going to wire a twist into the large lateral branch and let it grow some years. I am considering getting another one to put in the yard and letting it go. I have lost a lot of native red oaks in the past 20-30 years so it would be good to grow a few oaks resistant to the scourge of red oaks.

Mongolian history and culture has intrigued me since I was a little boy. It became more intriguing to me as I got older.

This looks like a fun project, and totally reminded me that I need to go back up that mountain for more scrub oak cuttings now that my spranged ankle has healed.

I’ve been scouring the online suppliers here for evergreen oaks but can’t seem to find any, I did find Mongolian oak and also North American red oak, perhaps I’ll get me some acorns later on when spring comes
