Hi everyone. I would like to ask some advice about bonsa soil. My macadamia tree which was planted in a mixture of pumice and akadama suddenly died probably from root rot. Can i reuse the soil for repotting my olive tree? Do i need to disinfect it using copper fungicide or any fungicide? Your kind advice would be greatly appreciated.

If your tree died and you think it is based on root problems, toss the soil. It is not worth risking another tree over.

Note that rootrot is not a common cause of death. Rotting roots are most of the time a result of death.

I find it hard to believe that any tree would get root rot in a mix of pumice and akadama unless it was sitting in a bucket of water

Aha! Was root condition bad upon replanting:confused:? Pumice can be reused forever. Separate from krapadama, keep pumice and wash. Bake in oven just in case for about 1/2 hour 300 degrees or so and can be reused. Dispose of krapadama.
