We looked it up, and there are other channels with similar, though not identical, names. They're all crafting or "Jackass" sorts of things, though, so not hard to differentiate the brand.
 
Sounds like lots of fun. I like all the names, and maybe something like 'nailed it in Colorado' :)
 
So, I thought Virgin Galactic was kinda stagnant, but turns out that in the past year they've essentially crossed into regular operations, with a flight almost every month.

Bad news is it's half a million dollars a seat to go to space for like half an hour.
Good news is it's ONLY half a million dollars! That's allot cheaper than I thought.

So, now the kids and I are trying to figure out how to make $3 million dollars for our vacation to space.
Current best option is to start our own YouTube channel, ask viewers to like and subscribe so we can get famous enough that someone else will sponsor our space vacation.

Or a weather balloon, just make sure you tell the army that you're a citizen; they're not allowed to do you harm since that's whole MO.

For the more adventurous people: I've heard there are shamans in the desert that can bring you to space for about 150 dollars. I believe that to be true, because everyone who left there were looking like they did in fact were untrained astronauts who went on a trip.
 
I've been on about the Bronze Age Collapse recently. The popular notion is that in the late bronze age the civilizations of the eastern Mediterranean all fell apart quite suddenly.
The Mycenaean Greeks lost their writing entirely, the Egyptians forgot hieroglyphics, cuneiform died out completely. There were invasions of mystery people, governments crumbled, popular uprisings, entire cities wiped off the map.
I couldn't wrap my head around how it all happened so quickly, supposedly in the span of 40 to 50 years.
In my continued searching for answers, I stumbled on this video which challenges the pop history of it all, and clears up ALLOT.


I realized that the concerns felt in our modern era are not without precedent, and thought it worth a share. It's on the long side, but very well organized, and great for while I was sitting down to do taxes last night.

Ancient history of the middle east podcast and The fall of civilization podcast might both be interesting to you.

The sea people, they're bad ass.

The wipeout of the Meso american society is also one to deep dive into. Apparently when one of the first people reached the shores, there were scattered villages everywhere. The guy went back to Europe, informed his friends and upon returning to the american continent, they were gone. With LIDAR, researchers are digging up more and more information that these villages actually existed.

I think the great wipe outs were caused by disease. Which is worrying, because covid is quite mild compared to whatever is still out there.

I think what stops me from digging deeper into mesoamerica is that so much of it is conjecture. Unfortunately, we have few records about them that aren't tainted by the Spanish conquest.
Still, the Spanish conquest is fascinating enough on its own, and I should learn more about it.

History is fascinating. I love that, "nothing new under the sun," aspect of it. Whatever problem you run into, chances are someone has had to solve it before, so we can solve it again.
 
This is a nonpartisan political gripe.

About 10 or 15 years ago Colorado voted to allow unaffiliated voters - those not registered with any political party - to vote in the state's primaries.

At first it was one ballot sent to you with all the candidates for every recognized party in the state; only 4 parties if I recall that first round. The past two presidential election years, though, we only got separate Republican and Democrat ballots.
THIS YEAR (at least I don't recall noticing it 4 years ago) there's a hand hole punched in your return envelope that lines up perfectly with the red or blue line printed on either ballot.

What the hell is the point of a secret ballot if the whole thing is specifically designed to display what party you're engaging?
So, it reignited my anger at the state's choice to ignore options other than Tweedledee and Tweedledum, but now I feel like I'm required to publicly declare a preference.

Again, just a gripe that I needed to get out before it festered.

Ow Wow. I would not be OK with this either. Just think beyond this. This increases risk of someone at a mail sorting station sorting out specific party votes (Leading of course to all sort of challenges down the line that mail-in votes cannot be trusted).

Exactly. I keep spotting little things like this, and it makes me very uneasy about the future of my country.

Why would they? They have to replace the trees from time to time anyway. They might as well remove them now and replace them when the work is done.
 
I think it was RockM who posted another article on this a little while ago.
Like @Japonicus said, many of the existing trees are getting cuttings taken to propagate replacements. Many of the trees are on the older side to begin with, or at least past their prime. The completed project is anticipated to have some 200+ trees, most of which should be clones of the old ones.

Started learning Hungarian 2 weeks ago for the hell of it

It’s been windy and have flown some kites and now getting back into stunt kiting. I regret throwing out my old kite before moving in 2020. Bought a new one the other day

Also, my stuff is still going on my bench. Lost a couple of things, but I’m not broken up about it. I was in a “if he dies, he dies” mindset of bonsai over the summer. I’m reinvigorated since stuff is leafing out. Pruned back my mulberry to get growth toward the trunk
