My life is still very busy with work and two little kids that I have no time for anything else. On top of that, I have too many plants.
My main task right now is to keep them alive for the next 5 years so by that time I will have more time to focus on this hobby. I actually started this journey about 10 years ago.
Overall I am quite happy with the progress that I have made. I didn't spend a lot of time in this hobby like many of you but like what I have.
Are you happy with the progress you have made in this hobby?
Here is a ficus that I got from HD about 12 year ago. Never seen wire in its life but it has good bones.IMG_20180815_180051.jpgIMG_20180815_180058.jpgIMG_20180815_180106.jpgIMG_20180815_180113.jpgIMG_20180815_180126.jpg

I've been at it a year or so and it's been a thoroughly enjoyable pursuit! I've had to promise myself no new trees this year as I think I have a problem. Or more appropriately put, my wife thinks I have a problem!

Oh boy, a long time ago, in a country far far away, a man raised his
arm and cried - Ling Nan.

Wasn't me, as I had boys to raise [ now all in research ] and much to
do,, I just helped out.
Had no negatives as everyone was occupied with their world.

Still doing what I did before and relaxed.
Fun to watch 3 leaves become a couple thousand.:)

I started bonsai when I was 16 or 17. Never dreamed I would have the quality of bonsai I now have.

Never stop learning!

Hmmm, Patience after 2 years, not great as I want it to happen next year!!!
Enjoying the fun of growing baby trees, and looking forward to adult trees in miniature.
Learning is way cool at this game, and after 10 years I hope I can still enjoy this and show you guys the “Patient” results.
Thank you to all my mentors here on this site.

I just checked my calendar and I've been doing bonsai for 1 year and 5 days. In that time I went from no trees to 18 trees, though none of them are really bonsai yet. Even though I went into it with a lot of hort knowledge, there are lots of differences between landscape plants and little trees! I think I lost 8 trees over the course of that year, many of them due to the winter. I expect this winter to go much better thanks to things I've learned. Who knows? Another 19 years or so and I might be good at it!
